Find Your Centre, Embrace Your Power

A journey through Manipura—the solar plexus chakra

Over the last few weeks, we’ve been exploring the strength that lives deep within us, not just in the body, but in the breath, the mind, and the energetic space of the solar plexus.

This term’s theme, “Find Your Centre, Embrace Your Power,” took us through a steady progression of practices designed to reconnect us with our inner fire, our confidence, willpower, and personal truth.

At the heart of our journey was Manipura, the solar plexus chakra. It’s the energetic centre of identity and transformation, where we digest experience, set boundaries, and ignite forward motion in life. When this centre is activated and balanced, we feel grounded yet expansive, calm yet courageous.

In class, we explored this through:

  • Core activation to build strength, resilience, and inner awareness
  • Backbending postures to open the heart, create space, and release old tension
  • Breathwork and grounding to reconnect with the steady, powerful rhythm of our own energy

The aim wasn’t to push or perform, but to move from a place of connection and curiosity. We met the fire within, not to be burned by it, but to be fuelled, warmed, and awakened.

What We Cultivated Together

• A stronger sense of physical and emotional centre

• Greater awareness of how to activate and support the core in movement

• A deeper relationship with personal power, courage, and confidence

• And perhaps most importantly, a feeling of being more at home in our bodies

It was a joy to guide you through this theme, and to see each of you embrace your practice in your own authentic way. Thank you for showing up with boldness, openness, and heart.

Embracing the Process: Exploring Forward Folds with Curiosity and Patience

Sometimes in yoga, it’s the seemingly simple poses that hold the deepest lessons.

At first glance, postures like seated forward folds—Paschimottanasana and Upavistha Konasana—might appear straightforward. They don’t involve balancing on one leg, twisting into a complex shape, or flowing through dynamic transitions. But as many of us have discovered in our recent classes, these poses can be surprisingly revealing.

Without the distraction of complexity, these shapes leave us with nowhere to hide. They highlight areas of tension we didn’t know we were holding. They expose the imbalances in our bodies and show us where we need more support, more softness, or perhaps more awareness.

This past term, we explored these postures in depth, breaking them down, learning how our bodies naturally move into them, and observing the subtle mechanics at play. From the tilt of the pelvis to the lengthening of the spine, we paid close attention to how our unique bodies respond in each moment.

Our focus wasn’t on achieving a final “perfect” shape. Instead, we shifted our attention toward the process:

• How do I approach this pose today?

• What is my body telling me in this moment?

• Where can I soften, strengthen, or simply be curious?

This approach to yoga isn’t about pushing or forcing, it’s about listening. When we allow ourselves to be patient and open, these postures become opportunities for deep connection, both physically and mentally.

Thank you to everyone who joined these classes with such openness and dedication. It’s been a joy to share this journey with you.
